How long to leave a cylinder space empty?

Hi,
First post.

Had a second complete LGX, keeping reservoir, after the pump on the first failed.
The second implant was May 19 and 10 days later I had much scrotal swelling and incision started leaking.
Drainage was mostly clear with red tint, later, orange, then pus (sorry).

Ended up in hospital June 18 for 6 days to try to save the implant, home for couple of days, then back in
hospital June 26 to take it out and put in a malleable placeholder put in but only one side
because of inflammation. So drainage was May 29 to June 26.

The docs and AMS guy say 6 months before trying to put back another LGX but I thought
that sounded too long, Asked Dr. Eid via web form about that timing and he says 3 months max.
I tried to ask what's the ideal time, but I got no answer because I suppose you get one question.

Any thoughts on how long to wait with empty cylinder space on one side?
