Consultation-->Implant-->Use

Postby hebrewhammer » Thu Oct 23, 2014 8:40 am

Hi there!

New member here, Paul was nice enough to activate me and warmly welcome me last night. I am 35, healthy, active, and married with two children. I have also suffered with ED for my entire life. My wife has been nothing but supportive and sweet, and is truly one of the nicest people I have ever met, she is beyond wonderful, and stunningly beautiful to boot ;).

All that said, ED has ALWAYS been an issue. Been to a few urologists, but tests revealed nothing conclusive. Pills in varying mixes worked and worked for a long time, but have slowly been losing their efficiency for me. Gone through the pumps, VED, constriction rings, etc., I'm tired of it to be honest. I'm tired of having the overwhelming desire, but not the ability. I am tired of asking my wife each time that we manage to have sex how hard I was. I'm tired of the stress and worry. Hopefully you guys can relate.

Shots had been suggested to me, but after reading that those would probably wear off in their effectiveness as well, and that they had the potential to create scar tissue, my wife and I started leaning towards implant. After a bit of back and forth, sweetly of course, we have decided on the implant path. And, frankly, she says that my entire demeanor has changed and I don't seem anywhere near as stressed. We have watched the surgery videos, read the articles and literature, gone to pubmed, etc, and done our overall due diligence.

I have an appointment scheduled with Dr. Karpman one week from today, and I am beyond excited. The purpose of this thread is to document this process from start to finish essentially. Hopefully it will serve as an inspiration to guys going through this, and as a way for me to vent as well :D. I know the pain is coming, but I am also very hopeful for the relief. I will update accordingly and will answer any and all questions through this as best I can. Any advice would be more than welcome. My wife and I are beyond glad that this forum exists, and she will also be posting her thoughts on this as well throughout the process, so hopefully that will help some others as well :D

Hi Hebrewhammer

I was implanted on 4/3/2014 after trying to live with ED, pills, and shots which over time became less effective as a result ofnerve damage due to a spinal neurological condition.

Since April 3 I have become a new person in mental attitude, self esteem, libido and sexual desire. Actually the implant returned me to the self assured person I was ten years ago. I wish I would have known or thought about it then.

Anyway this is the right decision for you. Don't expect pain, I your recovery is similar to mine and the majority of implantees here you will just be a bit inconvenienced and slightly uncomfortable for a few weeks until recovery start to take shape.

Stay on this site to continue to get information from all of us who have shared our experiences and knowledge with people afflicted with ED.

You are about to start a brave new and exciting life !!!!

yankfan042249,

Thank you for the kind words. The encouragement is ALWAYS welcome. Frankly, after the years of misery, I am welcoming whatever I have to go through to get to the other side of this. My wife and I were heading to the airport one day and had to turn around midway because I had forgotten my cialis and levitra. She was unbelievably sweet, but I just felt terrible seeing as how this was our first week long trip in years. Luckily we were getting there way early so we had enough time to do this. I am looking forward to that never being a concern again :D

A few weeks of discomfort is NOTHING compared to the stress and helpless feelings I have gone through. This site has been integral in the decision to go forward with the implant. My wife has even read most of the journey's on here and is nothing but excited about this new chapter in our lives. I have been VERY lucky to have such an amazing wife.

I'm looking forward to being where you are soon, and looking forward to being able to encourage guys the way you have me. Thank you very much, and I am looking forward to the day I join the bionic brotherhood so to speak ;)

Best of luck to you. I joined the brotherhood six years ago - the surgery and recovery were not bad at all. It's very likely your experience will be similar.

Good luck with your journey. Dr. Karpman is a very good doctor. I have heard mostly good things about him.

If you live near Dr. Karpman's office, then you live near me. I offer to be there for emotional support should you ever need any. Getting an implant is quite a journey, but well worth it.

Hi Hebrewhammer
Congratulations on your decision making and on having such a supportive wife I too have an amazing beautiful wife that has supported me all the way and now we await the final stage until the doctor activates the pump and gives us the go ahead. The journey to date has involved every possible emotion and stress and I think being in a loving relationship also adds its own pressure in as much as you want it to be right for your partner even though they are not putting you under any extra pressure. Sharing the decision making was the most positive move in settling my concerns both in going ahead with the surgery but mostly in the knowledge that our love making could be complete for both of us again.
Sure there are moments through the recovery that at the time seemed to be real pain but looking back over the last couple of weeks those thoughts are fading quickly and now it’s time to get ready for the ability to once again enjoy the spontaneity and follow through of having great sex. My first question to the guys on the site, my biggest concern when making the decision was about What will I still feel re arousal, stimulation post Implant? I was so concerned that I would lose the excitement of arousal and the stirring feelings that would allow me to perform and to give genuine pleasure but two weeks post op and I am happy to say that I have lost nothing in fact I think in the last week the arousal has really made me feel alive, down there, like the old days. Now I just have to master the pump.
Wishing you all the best and also your lovely wife
Cheers
Zac

First, thanks for all the well wishes!! Means a ton coming from all of you.

Had my consultation today. It was actually a great experience. Staff there was super nice, and they ran on time which is always a plus. Dr. Karpman went over everything I could think of asking, most notably early activation and cycling and the reasons for it. It will be an infra public approach to allow for early cycling. I was right on the cusp between an AMS CX and LGX, at the end though it looks like the CX is the choice because of the axial rigidity. We went over pictures and the need for cycling and no sex for three weeks after, all pretty basic stuff if one has browsed the boards.

I have pre-op scheduled for December 1st, and I become bionic on December 2nd!!! My wife is thrilled and we've already arranged the time off. Will be nice to hang around the Bay Area, even if I won't be able to move around much. Honestly just excited to get it done. I'm sure this next month will fly by. And my wife and I will have a new toy just in time for Christmas!!! Yay!!

Again, it was VERY nice to meet Dr. Karpman. Genuinely cool guy that listened and answered all questions. He was thorough in explanation and I can't wait for the surgery. Just have to get some tests done now, and at least I get a long break after Thanksgiving!!

Thanks Ed! He cracked me up. Loved how frank he was in the discussion. Apparently I get to be enrolled in a study that a few high volume guys are doing. Always nice to give back to science a bit! Again though, really really really nice and cool guy. It's nice when your doctor actually genuinely cares about your problem, makes you feel less crazy!

Can't wait to put the hell that has been ED behind me!

Hi HH, Welcome to our group. Having read your partial history, I realize it was much like mine and many others here. I am now 4 months post op, and can only say this is the most life changing and blessed thing, and I really encourage you and your wonderful wife to move forward, so you can experience the new life. I cannot adequately explain how this has so changed the lives of both myself and my wife. We look back at the ED nightmare, and pray that we never have to enduer even 1 day of it again. I was activated 4 weeks post op, and our first sexual event was like Heaven opening its doors. We will all be praying and hoping for the very best outcome for you and your wife, so that you both may experience what all the brothers here have.

Goof Luck and God Bless,

Charlie
