why no sex after implant?

Forgive me if this has been answered already. I've searched for posts on this but haven't really found an answer.

Why do some instructions from surgeons say no sex, including masturbation, for a specified time after getting an implant? I've noticed from other surgeons don't say anything about it. In my case the only specific no-nos were no vardenafil, don't lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk and to take it easy for the first couple of weeks. Nothing about pumping or having sex. My implant was performed on 11/9 and I'm supposed to go in for my first post-op follow up Tuesday 11/28 so I'll ask them. Anyway, I've been pumping since about a week after the implant. It was really sore at first but has improved dramatically in the last couple of days.

I don't want to screw anything up so I've held off on any type of sex except for pleasing my wife.

I'm assuming the no sex command is because of potential problems with pain or possible damage to sutures, incision, etc. Anyone have advice or an answer?

Once my doctor deflated me two weeks after my surgery, his instructions were no sexual activity, including jerking off, until my next follow-up appointment.

That ended up being eight weeks later because of how busy he was. Then, he taught me how to inflate and deflate and told me I could have sex.

I think this protocol was to give me time to heal enough.

I asked this question of my surgeon and he said that, once the sutures were healed and the stitches out (+10 days in my case), the ain reason for delaying sx is the discomfort/pain associated with the stretching of the penis when inflated. I am now 18 days out and the more I cycle the more the pain seems to ease. I have masturbated but no sex (lack of opportunity ;) )

The surgeon I used advised 6 weeks before sex to ensure proper healing, I think we made it to about 5 weeks before putting it to use.

The last time I had sex was two or three years before I got my implant in 2008. Many different stories here.

So, as I suspected, it's really rather arbitrary. However, what some of you said coincides with my logic; if it don't hurt, go for the spurt... ;)

Agree with the above but i also read somewhere a capsule forms around the implant, my guess is you want that natural protection around the implant, then you cycle. Guessing here.

Wouldn’t it be a bit risky to be having sex straight away with still weeping wounds etc of getting it infected. I’m 4 weeks post op and only just at the stage of pumping it up , although even that is hurting a lot

Basically the cylinders and reservoir have to settle in, allow the tissue surrounding them to heal enough so no movement can occur. Important to follow doctors' advice because you don't want to repeat the surgery 4 or 5 weeks later.

Getting an Implant is major surgery so why risk doing damage or getting an infection by being in a rush to get going. If you want to give yourself the very best chance of success/healing then dont rush into sex.
I abstained for an extra two weeks as per my surgeons recomendations and it's done me the world of good.
Patients is the key.
