Last Resort or sooner?

Postby crobin1 » Fri Aug 17, 2018 2:01 pm

New to this blog so...need some help here.

I have peyronies for 2 years...curvature at 35-45 degrees. I can get an erection with the aid of 100mg Sildafil. The curvature is an impediment to penetration. So my question is this...

So do i go through all of the therapies...VED, Traction, Pills, etc or go to the implant sooner than as a last resort. The benefits of spontaneity, endurance, control, and a straight unit with maintaining sensitivity sounds pretty good to me.

Why do most literature I read suggest this is a last resort?

Age 58...2 years with Peyronies.
59 Peyronies diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago...Kramer implanted a AMS CX 21cm 1.5 RTE on 11/15/18.

I think it's just part of the general approach of medicine to start with the least invasive/traumatic approach and progress to the more invasive until a remedy is found. And insurers play a role as some require that all other options be exhausted before covering an implant.

Should you wait? I can't answer that. I can only say that while I was gathering as much information as possible to make an informed decision I was struck by how often I read "My only regret is that I waited so long to get an implant." That's what kept me moving forward, and then having a show and tell sealed the deal. Prostatectomy to implant was 5 months, with all the other steps crammed in -- none of which worked.

Wish you the best.

To my understanding there are two things that happen to most guys when they wait. One is losing penis size and the other for guys with Peyronies is it generally gets worse. Therefore if you have tried pills, injections, vacuum pumps, etc. I don't see anything to be gained by waiting.

The URO that did my RP told me as soon as I told him I was getting minor scaring and Pyronies from injections to stop injecting immediately and schedule with an implant specialist asap. The implant specialist can tell you what is best and how he will handle the pyronies. The LGX straightened out the 15 degree bend. Answer is SOONER!!!

Basic observation. My condition continued to deteriorate and I continued to lose size. The 3 students who installed my first implant told me they worked and worked for an hour taking turns to get through the scar tissue on the left side.

If you notice, the young ones who get an implant here have AWESOME results. I think it is because they have not let things scar, shrink, deteriorate, and be damaged by needles for years before an implant.

IMO your case is right on the edge. You could certainly just go for it and be happy with it. Given your 35-49 degree curve it is possible you could significantly reduce it w 6 months of traction/VED, daily low dose cialis-maybe add pentox and/or H-100 gel. If not, after 6 months then go for it.

Pentoxiphiline is not the easiest to get any more. Usually a 3rd world country med for leg circulation. I took it for 6 years for my dick despite the side effects because my urologist told me too. Only reason I quit was because Target pharmacy now owned by CVS could not get it any more, then the FDA and postal service made it impossible for me to get what I ordered overseas. Cialis or Adcirca have more effect on circulation than Pentox in my opinion. If you have a curve, you have scar tissue in my opinion and it is going to take injection therapy for scar tissue, an implant, or other surgical intervention to fix it. My experience only but I used the vacuum pump and several forms of traction for 16 years along with vitamin E, pentoxifiline, cialis, viagra, levitra.

I agree with everything that has been written previously. I suffered with Peyronies for a year and tried everything mentioned with the exception of Xiaflex. My curve was 90degrees straight up mid shaft. Once I reached this point I could not keep an erection, making sex impossible.

My Dr said the scaring was severe (3 different scars) so Xiaflex would likely not help. Given this I went for a second opinion. I scheduled an appointment with the Dr, Alibaba mentions as a “nightmare”. He spent five minutes with me and pulled on my dick so hard I thought I would cry. He said he wanted to try the injection therapy. Fortunately for me the insurance turned it down. I was never so thankful for a no! My point here is to select your Dr carefully. Ask questions and if the Dr doesn’t give you a good feeling then keep looking.

I went back to my Dr. I had used him for a long time and I asked him to talk to me about what he would do if in my situation. We discussed implants. He told me what he thought would be best for me. He wrote the inplant he felt best and said “go home and read about this because I want you to know what you are getting yourself in for”. Exact quote. I was told to schedule an appointment in about a month to discuss the inplant if I liked. Well I read every thing I could find on treatments and implants. There is a world of that on the Internet but in the end I went back after six months and talked to him again. This time with a two page list of questions. He answered them all to my satisfaction and we proceeded with scheduling the surgery.

My advise to you is find a Dr you TRUST! If a Dr makes you absolute promises I would be skeptical. Mine told me the curve would take some time to completely straighten but it should. I lost length and girth waiting but when I made my decision I was confident. Scared as hell but confident in my Dr and my decision.

Surgery was May 24. As of today I have such a very slight curve it is not noticeable to anyone but me. I also had the hourglass deformity which is no longer visible. I am slightly shorter than before but I feel that is due mostly to ED and the Peyronies. I’m guessing you are as well. At this point I am starting to see improvement in the size/look of my penis and if I had to do it again would do it without hesitation.

Good luck!
Inplanted May 24, 2018. AMS 700 CX, MS Pump. 21cm x 12mm. Peyronies and ED. Pills stopped working and extreme curvature

Crobin; Welcome to Frank Talk. Although Peyronies is one of the only things I haven't suffered from, I have had lots of other problems. I did not have total ED when I got the implant so my situation was not a "last resort" but, it was so bad and unreliable that that in addition to physical problems, I started to suffer from a lack of confidence and depression. Your severe curvature will only get worse unless you take immediate action. The Coloplast Titan is the recommended implant for a curvature such as yours. I have the AMS LGX and I love it BUT, I have serious doubts that the AMS product is strong enough to handle a 45 degree angle but the Titan has been proven to work on this type of problem. :)
