Well it’s been a stressful 24 hrs
UCLH don’t think this is an infection, I am on antibiotics as a precautionary measure.
They think this is just superficial, where the spray glue has peeled of skin and opened the wound slightly.
I have no high temp, only clear slight oozing, no swelling or pain. In their opinion it has irritated the skin.
I have now had a seaweed dressing applied aquacell and the wound covered.
I am going back in Tuesday for them to take another look or earlier if anything changes
A bit more positive but not out of the woods yet.
Thanks for everyone’s support and messages

That is EXCELLENT news mate.

Did they run bloods as well? Raised wbc and CRP would indicate an infection also and if they’re normal then more reason to be happy.

The absence of temp is great news too.

I’m hoping you continue to heal well!!!

Pleased to read this more encouraging news - hope to goodness they are right and it starts to improve for you. I had a feeling that flaky stuff around the wound was glue, as mine looked like that, although I never had the rawness and opening up shown in your pictures.

I had the clear oozing too. I took antibiotics for two months hopingbforbthe best, but in the end the implant had to go. I never had fever or pain. When the surgeon removed the implant he said there was puss in my scrotum around the pump.

Hi Limpbizcit was your scrotum swollen, could you feel the pump ok. Did you have blood tests etc prior to removal that confirmed infection.
This is all extremely worrying. UCLH are telling me it doesn’t look infected, I can feel pump ok with no swelling.
I will ask them to do blood tests when I go back there on Tuesday and look for infection markers.
Can’t believe I’m going through this

Dr. Eid says there is often no fever with an infection because the infection is walled off and localized. A fever is very late stage, I think when you are going septic with general infection.

I am glad your news seems more positive but make sure they stay on top of this.

My scrotum wasn't swollen. I could feel the pump. But when I squeezed the pump, the clear ooze came from an area near the incision. I had no blood work done. My pump was also tethered to my scrotum.

I guess only time will tell, hoping in a few more days incision will be healed, hopefully then no more oozing. I have just checked pump it is not tethered to scrotum which I am relieved about. Not sure if incision is still oozing as it is covered with an aquacell dressing.
The oozing was only for 2 days ater soaking it salt water. I am still hoping part of the healing process which may have been delayed slightly by the surgical glue.

Will keep everyone posted

Leeroy, Defiant is absolutely correct. The main indicators for infection is redness, swelling, pain, fever, elevated WBC's and in the septic stages, hallucinations. You have only skin irritation, I would have to agree with the hospital... right now anyway. Put Polysporin on it. It is an antibacterial ointment that hydrates the skin, helps to relieve irritation and prevent infection. It is on the shelf at any pharmacy. Great news. :)

Is it possible the clear oozing could be from edema?
