Injection Frequency - Risk & Evidence

Postby JonrUK » Sat Mar 31, 2018 11:46 pm

According to my Specialist Nurse, the advice to limit Injections to 3 per week is because of the danger of physical scarring with subsquent risk of Peyronie’s rather than any pharmaceutical risk.

There are contributors to FT who say that they have injected more regularly over a number of years without any problems.

I have not been able to find any proper scientific review or data analysis to support what appears to be the standard medical advice given about injection frequency.

1) Does anyone know whether this advice is supported by any scientific data?

2) Assuming diligent rotation of injection sites, can anyone share their good / bad experience of more frequent injections, and over what timeframe.

3) How often do you inject, regardless whether it is for whether for fun or for rehabilitation?

4) Did your Specialist advise anything different from the standard 3 per week / once per 24 hours? (Particularly interested in UK users for this question...)

My urologist, unlike most others, says once every 24 hours is OK.

My "normal" week is 3-4 times, so occasionally there are two injections in 48 hours.

On vacation, we're likely to do once a day for a week or more.

On occasion (like some other FrankTalkers) I have violated my uro's guideline by doing the night/morning couplet — sex at 10 or 11 p.m. followed by sex at 7 or 8 a.m.

In all of this, I've had no ill effects. Have been injecting for four years.

I have seen no studies on trimix injection frequency.

The overwhelming majority of the medical community will give you the most conservative guidelines for injecting -- no more than 3-4 times a week, and always 24 hours in between injections. You won't find any published scientific data disputing that. In fact, in the U.S., where Trimix is most widely used, there is very little scientific data at all. That's because the drug is not officially approved by the the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and as a result has not been subjected to FDA clinical trials.

Doctors have come up with guidelines for Trimix based on anectodal information. With no clinical trials to rely on, doctors take the most conservative approach because the medicine affects people in different ways. The truth is some men inject up to three times a day on ocassion (like romantic vacations) and never experience problems. However, no doctor will reccommend that as a standard practice.

Choosing to inject beyond the most conservative guidelines is strictly a personal decision. The most you can hope for from the medical community is once a day. As for where to inject, it's a good idea to alternate sides each time, especially if you inject a lot. In addition to alternating sides I pick out different spots along the shaft each time.

As for frequency, I generally inject 2-3 times a week but I will inject up to twice a day on vacation -- with about eight hours in between injections. I've never exprienced any problems. My advice though is that if you have doubts you should follow your doctor's guidelines as the safest option.
I've tried everything -- pills, injections pumps -- and now I am at the final frontier.

All good stuff - thanks

Doesn't seem as if there is any empirical evidence for the 3 p.w. / 24 hour rule but it certainly seems to have become medical 'lore'.

It's surprising - usually it's based on medical evidence, or studies etc. but I haven't found it yet......
