I have been using Trimix for the past few months and lovin' it. It's been really great to have an erection that I can truly count on. However, my urologist and quite a number from this forum speak of the injections losing effectiveness over time. I think most of us have already been through that with Viagra and Cialis.

So... I started doing my homework on implants and how much the guys like them. They have far and away the highest satisfaction of any ED measure by both the patients and even higher by the partners!

I didn't like the idea of sticking needles in my penis, but even less having surgery on it. However, the more research, the more my mind has changed. My urologist said that injections would be fine for a patient who has sex a time or two a week, but I'm an everyday guy and not infrequently, twice a day. That's a lot of injections per month and I'm probably racing toward ineffectiveness.

Another consideration that pushed me over the edge to implant was that, currently, Medicare picks up the tab which is considerable - $15 to $20K. How much longer will that go on? Better grab it while it's still here.

On Nov 12th, one month from now, I'll be leaving injections for my new world of implants and am actually excited about it. No more worry about injections giving me scarring problems. No more erections lasting for hours. No more worrying about medication strength or getting refills. A morning quickie is just that - a true quickie - no waiting on the medication or figuring how to deal with the lingering erection.

It's time to turn the page and enter the final frontier.

Hi psyched123. It sounds like you have thought through this well. Wanting to have erections whenever and as often as you need them is certainly a good reason for moving up to an implant. There are pros and cons with everything. I considered an implant but didn't want to experience the complications that can come from surgery, along with the sometimes difficult recovery.

There was also the chance of device failure and having to have the surgery a few times over the rest of my life. Other guys on this forum have reported losing up to half the length of their penis due to shrinkage as a result of the surgery. But those scares aside, sure, I'd love the ease of use compared to injections. I have been injecting for more than a year, and absolutely love it. So far, after 13 months I have not experienced any scarring, priapism, peyronie's or loss of effectiveness. By adjusting the dosage I can inject and maintain the erection for a duration that is perfect for me. Because of these reasons I've decided I am going to stay with the injections until they no longer work, whether that's one year from now or five years. If there is failure, I will not hesitate to move up to an implant.

As a side note, and mostly for the benefit of newbies tuning in, even the most conservative doctors recommend injections for use up to three times a week. I am surprised your urologist said injections were best for men wanting to have sex 1 or 2 times a week. Many urologists say injecting once every 24 hours -- seven days a week -- is also OK. I happen to believe that, as long as we're careful to alternate injection points on both sides of the penis. Some people on this board inject even more than seven times a week during special times, such as vacations, although a steady practice of that is not recommended. But yeah, for a guy wanting erections for sex everyday and even twice on some days, then an implant makes sense.

Hey congrats on the approval I was just able to get mine paid in full due to hitting the out of pocket max for our family. I am using this as the silver lining to the surgeries my wife and kid had this year to drive us to the max out of pocket.

I like cigar56 was not fond of having surgery ( my first every surgery) on such a delicate area but I got to the point where I refused to live without being able to have sex on my terms. I want the quickie when the mood strikes without having to block out 3 hours for an erection. At this point I will say I would do this again in a heartbeat, the pain from surgery has actually been better than I imagined it would be.

It's been 3 months since my surgery and I thought I'd share my experience. As you read in my Oct post above, I've been down the typical ED road that almost all of us traverse (pills, pumps, injections) and decided it's time to get this thing taken care of for good.

I had my AMS CX 700 installed by Dr. Morey in Dallas on Nov 12. Dr. Morey is a top surgeon and does a very high volume with implants. I was his third implant that day. He told me that the first week was not going to be fun and, of course, it's surgery - he was right. Some pain meds and lots of ice and the week passed by OK. By the second week, no more pain meds, but some ice. Third week - no problems.

Then the worry everybody who gets an implant seems to have. "Have I lost size?" I fell right in line with everyone else and, when I was first pumped up at six weeks, felt that I was now significantly smaller in both length and girth. Quite a distressing thought! However, I availed myself of this FrankTalk board and was reassured by several to just wait a little. Sure enough, over the next few weeks tissue rebuilt and I'm now pretty much back to my original size with no doubt that in a few more weeks I'll gain even more. No loss!

Guys, if you're sick of pills that aren't working and fooling with dosing those injections, you really need to look into the implant. Everything from the surgery is now back to normal, except that there is absolutely no more issues with erection. My wife and I are having a really good time every day (sometimes twice a day). You can get hard any time you want and keep it that way as long as you like - no problem. Talk about great worry-free sex!! Look into it! You'll be really glad you did. Medicare will still cover it. Given how some of the presidential candidates are talking, that might not last. So, don't put it off too long.

Just listening to those guys is enough to give you ED if you don't have it already. On the other hand, since most of them are men maybe they won't be so eager to cut funding for ED treatment.

It sounds like you're doing well for yourself, and as a trimix user, I wish you the best of luck. HOWEVER, implants last from 8 to 15 years, and then they must be replaced. This can be inconvenient and expensive, as such I would ask medicare if they cover replacement of implants as well.
I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but logically speaking, I would most definitely inquire about this eventuality. As, they DO fail sooner or later.
Of course age must be taken into consideration, as depending upon age at time of initial surgery, some implants can outlast the remaining life span of the patient.

Yes, it might not be lifetime permanent, but ten to twelve years is a pretty long time. If you are having frequent sex, ten years of having to deal with injecting every time you have intercourse and then deal with the lingering erections afterwards is massively more inconvenient than the very temporary recovery of an implant operation.

Also, the implant always gives a good erection. Total confidence and predictability. No chemical medication is that reliable, predictable, and, as most of us have discovered, will continue to work forever.

As far as money is concerned, I guess we all have to ask ourselves how much a great, solid sex life is worth to us. Really, what could we go out and buy with that money that will make us feel better about ourselves and give us more pleasure? What wonders a great sex life does for the quality of a marriage!!

A lot depends on how much sex a guy is having. An implant could certainly make sense for someone who needs a full-on erection every day. Other guys are having sex only once or twice a week, or only 2 or 3 times a month. No two situations are exactly the same.

I did my homework and found one of the top, high volume implant surgeons in the world is practicing just two hours from home - Dr. Morey at UTSouthwestern Medical School in Dallas. Wonderful guy and a first-class staff. I just found out this week that my Humana Medicare Advantage approved the surgery and will pick up the whole price.

Morey was my surgeon and I have been a happy single man for almost 2 years. When I think of trying to use injections or pills, it makes me shudder. UT SW is a first class hospital and they have wonderful staff. The surgery is creepy but not that painful. Get 'er done. Morey promised me that I "would love it" and he was so right.
