Certain BP meds can increase the duration of trimix erections and chances of priapism.

Specifically Alpha Blockers. I take 2 mg of time release Doxazosin before bed. If I have an injection within 12-15 hours they are longer lasting and a few time have resulted in priapism or "Sudafed resistant" erections. Still, so far I have not had anything seriously dangerous. Just, annoying and uncomfortable.

I use Sudafed fast-acting -- wondering what doses guys use? I got a bit worried about a long lasting erection the other night and used 8x30 mg = 240 mg -- seemed to calm things down but I am concerned: anyone else use this much and any potential problems using such a high dose?

So went to the urologist today and did the trimix injection. She injected "10 units" and I got semi-hard after about 10 minutes or so. She was satisfied with the results and said I can continue with trimix if I agree to it. In the meantime, she gave me some samples of EDEX (10 mcg and 20mcg) to try at home. My question is, is EDEX basically the same as Trimix in terms of effectiveness? Basically it is Trimix in powdered form? Also I am assuming "10 units" of Trimix is the same as 10mcg EDEX?

No, I've never used anywhere near that much. Too much can cause BP issues in some people, myself included. Ask your doctor about a maximum dose.

No (well more of a NA), No, and No.

Edex is a proprietary version of alprostadi (AKA PGE-1). It has no other active ingredients. Tri-mix has 3 active ingredients with the alprostadil being one of them and probably the most potent. The relative potency is dependent on ingredient mix which can vary a lot. I've read that the ingredients of tri-mix can act synergistically with the mix being stronger than the ingredients. As in 1+1+1= 5 or something of the sort. So no it's not basically tri-mix in powdered form. You can not equate Edex and tri-mix as you suggest. It all depends on mix and potency of mix. I suppose you could develop a mixes of Alprostadil and tri-mix that would be somewhat equal in potency by volume but that's not how it works.

I use a compounded mono-mix from a local (sort of) compounding pharmacy that is essentially a mix that equates Edex but is 4 times as strong as your Edex 20. It works well for me.

This is all kind of confusing but thanks for clearing this up, bldoink. I guess the I will see how I react to the 10mcg Edex first and go to the 20mcg if needed.

Over time, it took larger and larger doses of increasing strengths, till even the max didn't do the job. But, my point is, with hundreds of Trimix injections, and hundreds of rock hard erections, I never had a case of priapism. In one instance, the hard on linger longer than I wanted it to, since we were meeting friends for dinner. Popped the behind the counter Sudafed, and boner was gone in a short while.

Thanks for this post……. A sense of release for all of us newbies,,,,,,,,,,

I think the rate of priapism with injections is related to your cause of ED. For me I had great blood in flow already, especially with Viagra, but the blood leaked right back out of the penis as soon as I got an erection, causing it to fade. So I had a blood out-flow problem. However if your ED is caused by lack of blood inflow, maybe because you take meds that cause low libido or diabetes or something, I think injections are far more likely to give you priapism since they cause a massive amount of blood inflow for a long period of time.

As others said it's not common, but still a risk. With those that have venous leak it's even lower of a risk because it likely wouldn't be 100% ischemic. You can ask your doctor to prescribe the injectable anecdote (phenylephrine) while you are titrating up. I have it, but I've never had to use it. The only downside with the injectable phenylephrine is that it breaks down in a couple of months.

the best antidote is excercise. it works every time.
just do a bunch of pushups, vigorous running, etc.
i have a gym setup at my house and a few deadlifts and overhead presses and erection goes down.
the blood goes to the muscles and out of your dick.
also a cold shower works great.
