Soon after my divorce I experienced a sudden onset of ED. Could have been mental or an accumulation of things, I don’t know. I was 43, healthy but stressed and depressed. Pills worked great but after rectal cancer radiation and surgery the ED complete. This is my story with Trimix:

February 2017 after 2 years I’d struggle I got on Trimix 40/30/2 and 3-5 units witks great.
April 2017 switched to Autoject and 1/2 inch 28 gauge needle set at 5/16 length which made a huge difference in predictability and less pain.
October 2017 switched to 5/16 30 gauge needles which was a disaster with unpredictable results and bruises. Needle too thin for Autiject.
May 2018 tried manual injection with 5/16 30 gauge needle. Was a little more pain than Autoject but suppose it’s less trauma to the tissues. Had to push it in all the way and more but once the resistance was gone it went in easy.
Will try this for a while and see where it goes. Otherwise I’ll just go back to Auotoject.

We have to try new things to figure this out and get the best long term results possible.

I am a rookie myself using autoject with 30. G. 5/16. Guess because thats all the pharmacy has ajways ask for 29. 1/2 but they never have any different

I'm a rookie as well. I had one fail so far that didn't go over too well. My initial trimix injection was done in the doctor's office with my wife and she took the reins and did the first injection as well as the first few. About my 5th trimix injection the wife stuck the needle in me and forgot to pull the plunger cap off and decided to pull the needle back out instead of pulling the plunger cap off and I lost my cool which didn't go over too well. I ended up injecting myself waiting 20 minutes and it didn't work(frustrated) and injected myself again which did work but I felt like my dick was a pin cushion at that point. The initial 10 30 guage 5/16" needles I received with my trimix prescription were generic store-brand that didn't seem that sharp and were harder to puncture into the corpus cavernosa to me. This also seemed to make it slightly sore at the injection site after the injection. I asked the question here on the forum if there was any brands of needles that were better than others and I believe Larry mentioned that BD was the gold standard. I took his advice and got a big box of a hundred from Walmart of BD 31 gauge 5/16 in needles for about 30 bucks. I'm happy with the BD brand needles and they seem to be much shaper and go through the tissue with ease. THANK YOU LARRY! I'm very frugal and love to save money but this is one area where I didn't feel like I wanted to skip out on. One technique that my urologist showed us that I like and have not seen anywhere else... when you go to inject into your flaccid penis to wrap or bend your dick around your finger in such a manner that tightens the skin where you want to inject. This technique seems to support the tissue while you're injecting into it . Perhaps a better way to describe it is to weave your dick between your pointer finger middle finger and ring finger to inject into it. I slowly stick the needle in to where I can feel it puncturing into the corpus cavernosa and bury that 5/16" needle to the hilt before pressing down the plunger.

FWIW, when I was injecting the BD needles were the best I found. The least pain comes from the smallest diameter needles, but they need to be good quality to penetrate well.

I used both 5/16" and 1/2" lengths. The 1/2" seemed to be easier to use and make sure they worked every time. At one point I got re-educated by a nurse in my uro's office. She said that 5/16" was too small and I should always go longer. I never had any trouble with the 1/2" but I did with the 5/16". YMMV.

Another thought that came to me since my post above was that using good quality needles is probably also important to minimize chances of getting scar tissue to minimize the chances of creating Peyronie's?

Unless you are giving a venous injection (and you're not) you are suppose to use the needle like a dart. That may make it easier to get it in with out so much difficulty and pain.

I tried both thick and thin needles, manual and Autoject. 1/2” 29gauge meddle set at 5/16” length in Autoject works best for me: quick, absolutely pain free, 100% predictable and minimizes needle phobia. To me it’s perfect.

I hate to be contrary (OK, not really) but my experience with the small syringes has been different (small does not include the T-shot syringes). Other than the needles that come with the Edex kits my experience has been with BD, Sure Comfort, Easy Touch, and Publix store brand (UltiMed). I inject Manually. I do not use an auto injector. I prefer 31 gauge/calibre, 5/16 length, 3/10cc volume (.25mm, 8mm, .3cc/ml).

My least favorite is the BD brand. The plunger on the BD brand is the most difficult to depress making it harder to"feel" if I'm in the correct spot. They're also the most expensive not that any of them are budget busters. Somehow they have the appearance of higher quality too but all I care about is performance. I haven't noticed that they feel sharper than others but I'm talking 31 gauge so that could be a factor.

Second from the bottom is the Sure Comfort. The pharmacy gives me 2 bags of 10 of this brand with my mono-mix. They're OK but not my favorite. The price is right.

Next is the Publix store brand (Manufactured by UltiMed, Inc on the bottom of the box) Not my favorite but they work good enough, they're cheap and best of all can be easily sourced at the Publix store just a few miles away. They seem sharp enough and lubricated. My only complaint is the syringe markings only go down to 1 unit. My favorite brand is marked down to .5 unit. Not a big deal.

My favorite is the Easy Touch brand. Low resistance plunger, .5 unit markings, they seem sharp and lubricated and are cheap. The down side is I have to order them off the internet and I don't order enough med stuff off the internet to make it worth while. I hate paying more for shipping that I do for the product.

So, for now I'm using the Publix brand and as a back-up the Sure Comfort syringes the compounding pharmacy gives me. I still have some BD brand I'll probably never use.

I haven't noticed any great difference in sharpness between brands. I haven't looked at any needle tips under magnification.

As for "Darting" my dick I say no thanks. I like to be able to feel as I insert the needle to help determine placement. That bothered me a bit at first as I also have a little bit of needle phobia. Now I find the different sensations as I insert the needle and feel for plunger resistance to be reassuring. What little pain is sometimes involved is minor and of no consequence.

PS: a couple of days ago while I was picking up syringes from Publix I was talking to their pharmacist and mentioned that it was my understanding that BD was the best brand but that I didn't like them due to perceived plunger resistance. Surprisingly, he agreed with me and told me he had noticed the same thing while giving flu shots. He guessed that due to their higher quality the rubber stopper of the plunger has tighter tolerances to force out all of the meds resulting in more plunger resistance.

Brands do matter. I switched to Exces syringes I had from the past and not happy with them. Plunger is lot harder to move. Sometimes I had some Trimix left in the syringe after I removed it from the Autoject. This is not good especially since I use only 3 units which is a drop. Also the the whole 1/2 inch of the Excess needle sticks out of the Autoject even though I set it at 5/16 which increases the chance of urethra penetration. Exces doesn’t seem to be compatible with Autoject.

I love Easy Touch brand ($15/100 syringes). It has 3 beveled needles which makes them sharper and I do notice the difference. The plug moves easier so no chance to get stock.
