Depends on your general health and the extent of your ED.
For example I’m a pretty healthy 53 year old, don’t get minimal erection with women but have night erections that go away fast. Doc gave me a very strong (40/30/2) Trimix to begin with and I had a great reaction so I only use 5 units and I get 200 shots out of the 10ml vial. That’s enough for over a year keeping it frozen.
If you don’t want to get these prescriptions often get something strong like mine or 30/20/1 and start out with a very tiny unit.
All the best.

Take 20MCG PGE/2 MG Phentolamine/30 Mg Papavarine ...all per ML
That's a potent dose but not the max. It's what I take. Make sure to keep it FROZEN at all times and only thaw to use each time. Inject 12 units which is .12 ml. If that's not enough, increase by .05 ml ( 5 units) each time.

This is confusing because the mg/mcg/ml of the mix varies and the effect of the three components varies and he effect may vary by person (??).

I started with Caverject, pure prostoglandin (PGE) at 40mcg/ml = 40 mcg PGE, pretty strong, and it burned pretty good but this got very expensive on a new MedRx plan so went to --->

I then went to Tri-Mix with: 30 mg papavarine, 1 mg phentolomine, 20 mcg prostaglandin (PGE) per ml, a moderate mix @ 0.20 ml (or "units" as some people say on the syringe), that gives me 6 mg of papavarine, 0.2 mg phentolomine, and 4 mcg of PGE. There is no baseline for me as to the relative strength or effects of the three components so I am confused also. BTW, it had a great effect and did not burn (either the PGE and/or the carrier fluid components or both) BUT I quickly became allergic to one of the two non-PGE components so went to --->

Now 60 mcg prostaglandin (PGE) only per ml, @ 0.70 ml for 42 mcg or PGE, or back to my original burning Caverject/PGE dose.

I am getting an allergy test for papavarine and phentolomine and experimenting with a pump, ring, and supplemental boner pills to lessen the dose now until I can get back on a Bi-Mix at least.

It is complicated because of the - to me - unknowns of what relative strengths and effects are. After my allergy tests, I will confer with the URI on this mystery.

There is some sorcery involved as there is some synergistic effect with the tri-mix drugs. 1+1+1 doesn't necessarily equal 3. It could equal 5. That's why in many cases it takes the patient and the doctor a while to figure out the correct mix and dose.

It's also my understanding that while the prostoglandin (PGE) is the ingredient most likely to cause pain it's also the ingredient least likely to cause fibrosis.

I also started on brand name prostoglandin (alprostadil) in the form of Edex, which is the main competitor of Caverject. Like you, it became unaffordable when my insurance quit covering it. I'm also now on compounded alprostadil at 80mcg/ml with a dose of 8 units with a Viagra or 12 units without Viagra (generic from India). I'm currently very satisfied with this program. I also use a novelty cock ring.

Yea, Tri-Mix rocked, until I quickly developed an apparent allergy to phentolomine and/or papavarine in Tri-Mix (not pretty, within 3 uses), the 4 mcg of PGE with small amounts of papavarine (6 mg) and phentolomine (0.2 mg) was better performing and less burning than the 40 mcg of pure PGE in Caverject or Mono-Mix now at 1/10'th the dose of PGE. SO yes, either it is synergistic or one/both of the other ingredients packs a real wallop (both in the "mg" range versus "mcg", 1000x, of PGE).

My former Caverject became untenable cost-wise ($20 a dose) when I went on Medicare - the Fed government does not think a sex life is important and ALL boner drugs are NA. So now completely out of pocket. Just FYI, I picked up 10 ml of the Mono-Mix today, 60 mcg/ml, it was $140. I use a 0.50-0.70 ml dose. That is 14-20 doses per 10 ml or about $8 per dose. Even more interesting the cost breakdown is 20 cents for chemicals (PGE, biostatic water and some preservative) and $139.80 for compounding and handling. The Tri-Mix at the same cost per 10 ml ($140) but only a 0.20 ml dose cost $2.80 per dose, a much cheaper boner. But I've got the cost down form $20 to $8 now and it could be lower with a Bi-Mix.

Can you get the script written for a stronger mix so you can use less and save a little more money?
