question for any veterans with TRICARE

Postby stanri1 » Tue Dec 24, 2013 5:04 pm

I know the VA will cover the cost of the injections and medicare will not. Does anyone know if Tricare covers the injections and is there is a way to submit a claim direct to TRICARE ??

I use Tricare , Go though your Urology Department ( after you get a referral from your family practice Doctor ) mine pays for it

Let me give you a update , I told my urology doctor that EDEX was kind of painful and i ask him if i could try TRIMIX , he said OK but i would have to pay for it , he wasn't sure if TRICARE would do a co pay , so that's where i have to get back to you . But he said he had a compounding pharmacy that he could write scrip to , that better than nothing

I actually don't think the cost is all that much. It sure beats paying $15 or $20 bucks for a damned pill.
Sorry I jumped in since I don't have Tri-care.

Many Doctors know very little about who pays for what and how much. Some Doctors do know, but many don't. Health care is their primary occupation, not health care cost, authorization requirements or the intrigues of regulatory rules.

Check with the payer. Take notes, with names and times of all your phone or email contacts. When you ring off, use their name to say "thanks" and "good-bye". Ask what documentation or preauthorizations are required and don't be afraid to ask about what rules require things that seem odd or unreasonable to you (even well-meaning people can mis-read regs). Be polite when challenging requirements.

With as many years as you have with the Armed Services and Federal Government, you probably have acquired this knowledge, but in case you forgot...I repeat it here.

The person you are dealing with on the phone...make him/her your ally, not your opponent.

Good luck.
