Pump success, but constriction rings don't

Postby rondad » Thu Feb 23, 2017 11:30 pm

Hi,

It's sometimes difficult to search through the many informative messages on this forum, so I'm going to ask this question again - i apologize if it's repetitive.

I'm 1 year post-prostatectomy. I've been trying a pump as part of penile rehab. Have been on Viagra 60mg (now 100mg) 3 days/week since a few weeks after surgery. Beginning Bimix injection therapy next week.

I can pump up and get a full erection inside the pump tube. But as soon as I release the vacuum, I lose all of it. No matter how quickly I apply a tension ring, it doesn't "keep".

I've tried numerous types of rings - the "lasso' style, various sizes of silicone rings from rather loose to rather tiny, even a leather "cinch strap" where you can pull and make it as tight/loose as you can. None of them maintain the erection caused by the pump.

I do try to apply it even while the vacuum is applied by pulling the pump away a little bit so there's room at the base of my penis to slip the ring on before releasing the vacuum. Still no luck - within seconds, I'm limp again.

Anyone had this experience?

Ron

I don't know of what could be happening, but by all means keep at it with the VED so you don't loose the size of your penis. Have you tried injections? Those are the next step. Then... You know what you are inline for.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, still experimenting with the VED and different types of rings/straps.

I just received my Bimix from the pharmacy...First trial injection at the Urologist's office next week. Some guys have said use a constriction ring after the injection? I assume that's if the injection isn't completely effective. I will probably wait on that while the Bimix dosage is being figured out over the first month or two. I know the doctor is starting very low to hopefully minimize any pain and reduce the risk of priapism...

Ask your doctor for phenilephrine or I think it's sudafed ? To take in case the erection doesn't go down so you don't have to go to the er. When I had my dopler, i needed 4 shots of that first substance... To make it go down!

The way I can make the ring do its job is to NOT pull the cylinder away from my body.

With my erection well oumped and the ring in the cylinder (and well lubricated), I press the ring off the cylinder onto my lubricated pubis and penis. The ring snaps down alarmingly fast and with not even a few hundredths of a second of lost vacuum. The cylinder is kept pressed against my body throughout the process until the ring is in place on the penis. The lube on the ring and surrounding areas is vital and having no, or very little, hair in the area helps quite a bit, too.

It hurts a bit and hurts my partner even more to watch. But if done right, seals the erection in place before the vacuum-induced erection has time to drain and collapse.

It feels like being strangled, but works. It takes a bit if practice and a little bit of masochism.

Good luck,

Thanks for the "technique". I've put on the constriction ring before releasing the vacuum, similar to you - I pull the cylinder away just a bit so there's room for the ring to snap down into place.

Interestingly for me, it hasn't hurt, even with the tightest ring (other than catching some hair.) I wore one for about 10 minutes before I saw my penis turn blue (oops!) - didn't feel anything.

But I'll try again! Especially since my injection therapy visit was postponed 2 weeks...sigh...

I hope it works for you. One trick I glossed over is to ease the entire ring right uo to the terminus of the cylinder so that when the ring comes down, it comes down off the cylinder all at once.

What is the brand of the pump you are using?

I have had best results using a vacuum pump designed for use with constriction rings. I have several kinds(backups just in case).
Lately the Encore Deluxe is my goto. It has a cylinder that fits over the main cylinder. When you have reached max pump you just twist the top cylinder while maintaining pressure and it forces the ring off onto the penis.
This can even be done when you are using the electric pump and it is still pumping.

Some have better luck with 2 rings.

I also use the Encore with the twist-off sleeve to apply the ring(s). Works very well, with no loss of erection. I also use two rings when I want the firmest erection. The Encore rings come in sizes; I use two #4 rings. I have tried a #3 ring for greater tightness, but it is too difficult to remove.

Most of the time I use 2 rings also. I put an Encore #5 on first and then a Mach #7. The Mach comes off 1st and closer to my body then the Encore.

You use the manual or electric pump?
