Hello all. I'm relatively new to the FT site and these boards.

It looks as if I'm going to have an implant. In talking with the Dr he suggests using a model CX from the American Medical Association/Boston Scientific. Is anyone familiar with this implant and if so I'm open to your thoughts.

I'll probably be having this procedure done some time in the next few months so I would like to gather as much information as I can before then along with a list of questions for the doctor.

I'm a bit apprehensive about this whole thing so thanks in advance for your advice.

Jim,
Was this a family doctor or a Urologist? ... AMS is the company name and CX is a model (there are several others) ... CX is generally used for guys with heavy scar tissue, etc.

Thanks for the response.

The doctor is a urologist from the University of San Francicsco Medical Clinic. I originally saw this doctor for Peyronies and ED which probably explains the choice of the CX model as you stated.

Is there anything else on the road ahead that I should be aware of?

Find a good, experienced surgeon and listen to his recommendations. Most docs have a preference regarding AMS vs Coloplast, but most will also discuss the reasons for their suggestions. You might try somebody like Dr. Edward Karpman in Mountain View - he gets very favorable reviews.
