Venous Leak worries

Postby mlc2010 » Wed Apr 18, 2018 12:00 pm

33 years old, watched porn since 16... I have to use injections now, 20-40mcg of caverject keeps me erect for 2 hours

I have a niggling fear of a venous leak.. when I take cialis.. if I lie down, I get a hard erection, if I stand up, it disappears immediately

I had a doppler test which ruled out a venous leak, but ive been told they are unreliable to detect VL, I asked for a cavernosogram but I was told it only shows where leak is, and doppler test would rule it out

When I masturbate, as soon as I stop stimulation, it disappears within 5 seconds

any thoughts?

Why don't you have a frank discussion (pun intended) with your doctor. Tell him your concerns/questions and why and then listen to what he suggests and, leave the porn alone for a while... sometimes I think we get desensitized to it. :)

I've seen two or three urologists

first said I should see a psychosexual counsellor as my doppler was fine

then I see posts on here where people say dopplers are notoriously unreliable at detecting a VL

so I see a second urologist who says caverno... only detect where leak is, and if I had a venous leak then injections wouldnt work..

again seeing posts on here, makes me believe that is false

Based on my experience, I believe injections can overcome a mild VL. However, as the leak worsens, the injections become less effective.

injections have worked fine for 2 years.. I started with 40mcg, but 20mcg can give me a decent erection, I think my technique has got better

After 30 years of ED, about a dozen doctors, trying every treatment, and having ultrasounds, a doctor FINALLY prescribed a Penile Doppler test and it quickly confirmed a severe Venous Leak. I don’t understand why it is considered unreliable. The way I see it it nothing else worked and the Penile Doppler gave me my life back. Perhaps a smaller leak is more difficult to detect whereas mine was obvious.

isn't a penile doppler an ultrasound ? what other ultrasounds was you given?

Yes, a Penile Doppler is a version of an ultrasound. I had some other type of ultrasound in my Urologist’s office that didn’t show anything so he sent my to a different facility for the Penile Doppler, which he said was more sophisticated. I am not sure what the first test was called.

Have a similar problem.

my urologist claims that it shows it has a mainly psychologic reason. During the sleep my mind is off, the parasympaticus works, and so erectios occur. but for some rason the pelvic floor doesnt relax after a while during nocturnal erections, so the blood is trapped till i wake up and pee. i dont believe this explaination 100%, but why we should have a VL when the dopler ultrasound shows there is none... sometimes , on good days, i can keep my erection during masturbation for up than 1 hour, so a VL is unlikely though I do this mostly on my back.
but these night erections... crazy and certainly not healthy.

This night they costed me 3 hours of sleep.

The dilemma is: if i take pde5, the nocturnal erections go completely of of line (even with viagra, not cialis!), if i dont, its hard to get and keep an erection during day or evening...
or is it the testosterone level that differs so much between night and day? I dont know...

Which is more accurate a Duplex Ultrasound or a Doppler Ultrasound? My urologist did a Duplex Ultrasound and said I do not have venous leakage...even though I have text book symptoms of VL. Should I request a Doppler Ultrasound?
