Photo Resizing

Postby Larry10625 » Wed Feb 28, 2018 12:22 pm

Hey everybody, I hope everyone is enjoying this awesome weather.

Several people have asked how to resize their photos so the will fit the requirements for this site. I am not sure what the max size, I will attempt to look it up. In the meantime, I have a Resizing programme that is FREE, works great and is so easy to use that even I can. Here is the link;

http://download.cnet.com/FastStone-Phot ... 19476.html

I have been using this for 3 or 4 years now and have never had any issues with it at all. Basically you put the file name in the column on the left and click the ADD button to add it to the column what will be resized. Near the bottom on the right there is an address bar asking you where you want the resized image or whatever and then click the convert button. If you need better instructions, don't hesitate to ask. I have a North America phone plan so I could even walk you through it step by step over the phone. Those of you over the pond (or wherever) will have to settle for PM on here or you call me.

Hope this helps.

Here it is again for those that need it. Laying the instructions down on their side was not my idea, sorry you will have to rotate it 90 degrees. This programme is very easy to use, free and works. Furthermore, you don't get a lot of unwanted shit emailed to you.

No need to download a resize program. there are many right online, where you upload your photo, click resize and then download it back to your download folder.

I have found that photos of 50KB work just fine here on the Franktalk forums.

Been using Irfanview for quite a few years. I've always found it easy to use and it's free. Plus it's small if that matters. I'm several versions behind in what I have so I can't actually speak for the latest.

Open your camera card on the computer. On mine it is removal J drive. Open the LIST of pictures. Place your cursor over the picture you want to resize. Right click and a menu drops down. 4th (?) on the list is edit. click that. Usually most any size picture if I change 100 to 40 or 60, it will then fit. This is using a Windows 7 system.
If you completely open the picture with Windows Live Gallery, at the top of the page will be a tab for File. From that is a pull down menu that give you the option to save to OPEN WITH. If you have Paint, a program I would suggest getting as it soon will be gone, click Paint. The picture will open in Paint. Click RESIZE. Change the 100 to say 40 or 60 on the menu that pops up. Something along that. Both numbers will change together for you. Click O.K. That menu board will disappear. Then from the little blue box in the top left corner of your paint screen is a down arrow. Click on that and another menu pulls down. Click on Save. It will save your picture in a smaller size back where you got it from. Then you can go to FT>Attachments>Add> and acquire your picture. Bless this computer. I spent 20 minutes typing this and the instant I hit submit the battery died but it saved it! Hope this is beneficial in some way. I learned how to resize by trial and error to post on FT too. No other place I've ever needed to. Cheers.

Larry, in the past I could not post anything over 585 but recently I notice I can post if only a tad over 600KB.

Seeing as I only use my smartphone to take pictures and interact on this forum I figure I could share the method I found to resize with other members who might have the same situation.

This worked for my iPhone and you will need 2 email accounts linked to your device.

1: compose an email to yourself and add/insert the photos you want to resize.
2: when you attempt to send you will get a pop up asking what size you would like to send the photos as... choose small or medium.
3: open email and save the new pictures to your photos at the new size.

Some of the photos were still to large with medium so he safe bet would be to use small.
