Incontinence solution question after RP

Ok men, this question maybe a little or a lot bazaar. I am now 21 months since my Radical Robotic Laparoscopic Prostatectomy and I am cancer free. I am one of the fortunate ones that only has to use the smallest Men’s Depends that lasts all day, but even that leakage is very depressing. No matter how many Kegel exercises I do, I cannot stop the dribbling after I urinate. After that, I am usually dry until the next time.

Here’s my weird question. Has anyone tried a penis plug or Short Prince Albert wand without piercing to stop the leakage? Does anyone think it will work? I have a small meatus, so stretching it for a fit shouldn’t be a problem.

The depression and frustration from this is and also not being able to climax like before has been at times overwhelming.

Everyone’s thoughts will be welcomed.

Evestay53,

I am in the same condition as you are in. Radical Robotic surgery 10 years ago. I too use Shields because I got tired of damp underwear. I am constantly looking for a solution to this nuisance. Funny that you should ask about a plug or wand. I just got one (I'll try almost anything) and have tried it during the day. It helps a little but does not solve the problem. I have researched the sling but don't think that that will improve what we have. I believe that that is for much more radical situations than ours.

I have done some research on Botox Bulking but have not discussed this with a Urologist as yet. I have found that as the day goes on and I tire out, the leakage gets worse. This also happens when an evening alcohol relaxes the muscles a bit. Before the procedure, I was relatively fit. I could knock off 100 sit ups and was able to get in a good work out at the gym. Now between stress incontinence, arthritis and 3 total knee replacements, I have a heard time doing anything at the gym and consequently am gaining weight.

If you find some improved remedy, please let us know.

Chris

If you're physically up for it I've found that long walks help. I do 2 to 4 miles. Walk without a pad or depends. That will give you motivation. You'll probably find yourself looking for bushes until you get better. You will pee yourself. It will help with the incontinence. At least that's my non medical opinion. It helps me.

As for the original question, I'd rather wear a pad than stick something up my dick. But that's just me.

I am nine years on my rp and found that a clamp does help. I use one made of plastic with closed cell foam - I think it was called Dribble Stop or something like that. It does help, but sometimes can be a little uncomfortable.

Gentlemen,

Here is additional information that I found about this subject that I found that I forgot that I read before: http://rphelp.pbworks.com/w/page/609746 ... %20control
and http://rphelp.pbworks.com/w/page/609745 ... 0prototype
Hopefully the links work.
A reason I am looking into this is that my scrotum is getting raw and developing blisters from rubbing against the pads and also from the urine on the pads. No matter how much powder I use in the morning, the powder is gone by noon. I have to use bandaids on my sack because of the blisters.

I have not pursued anything yet, just considering some options. These options seem like a lot of bother, but they are an option.

Please create a signature. It makes things much easier to answer your questions without asking a lot of questions. Here's how you do it
Click on your name in the top right corner and select "user control panel"

Then under the big letters "User Control Panel" there is a row of words... select "Profile"

Then down the left had side of the "User Control Panel" select "Edit Signature" (You might have Create Signature or something. I don't know exactly what you'll get because I already have a signature to edit)

Most guys put something like what I have, but you can put whatever you want. Here is mine -
"AMS 700 (18 + 2 rte's). Implanted March 30, 2017 by Dr. Brock of London, Ont, CANADA. Great surgeon. Went in to septic shock and had to have implant removed April 29, 2017. I'm from Belleville, Ontario, CANADA. Appt. for consult for second attempt is on November 6, 2017... I can't wait."

Don't get too carried away with the doctor like his name, address, phone number, etc (anything that looks like advertising for him).. you can certainly say Dr. Jones (great Dr.)

If you need further help, please ask, that's what I'm here for.

Not a single person, including me, has included an age. So, since I don't know your age, is it at all possible that it is age related? Have you all discussed this issue with your urologist. In any case, although I can't imagine that (with the rest of my medical problems) BUT you are all alive and beat cancer. I will now take my own advice and add an age to my signature.

I am 55, had RP at 50. Dealt with incontinence issue since RP in April 2013. Surgeon initially thought incontinence would lessen, but did not. I walked, used clamp for short bit and it was uncomfortable. Used Tena pads and dealt with the need to be sure I always had some pads available and even suffered chaffed skin on occasion. After being referred to a Urologist Specialist for incontinence and ED, then going through an assessment it was recommended to have a sling placed at same time implant done for ED.
I have not used any pad at all since I came out of surgery and my underwear is pee and pad free for first time in nearly 5 years!
