ED tied to Low T - Seeking Information

Hello Mates,

I am 53 now and have been dealing with this ED bullshit since I was about 45. I recently learned that I have Low T. 225 ng was my reading a few months ago. I don't know how long I have had Low T but I suspect it's been several years.

I am now taking Anastozolone and Androgel to increase my testosterone level. I just had it check again and last week it came in at 433. I have noticed that recently (last 3 weeks) that I have hard erections for what seems like almost all night long. Because of this I thought I had been cured and was ready to put the wood to my hot girlfriend. Unfortunately though I still could not get my meat bat to step up to the plate and I had to resort to taking more Viagra which is now giving me major side affects.

I am wondering if there are any of you fellow ED brothers that had been cured or somewhat cured of your ED issue when you were put on testosterone replacement therapy ? I have heard that it's possible but I have not seen any other postings anywhere of success stories.

So are there any success stories out there with TRT ?

Cheers
Flannigan

It's easy to pick one symptom and hope it's the cause of our ED. Plenty of other ED sites and blogs will make it sound that easy. What you'll find on this site is a more thoughtful bunch of guys who, in many cases, have painstakingly sorted through the possible symptoms to find out exactly what's going on in their case.

Plenty of people will tell you to up your testosterone and your ED will go away. Great, if it works that way for you. But consider a few of the possible causes for ED — testosterone deficiency, venous leak, psychological issues, side effects from some prescription you're on for a medical issue.

It's possible to have two or three or even all four of those going on in your life. I had testosterone deficiency. Getting my numbers up via T-injections didn't help my ED. (Did help my attitude and energy.) I also, it turns out, have a degree of venous leak. Trimix helped. Then trimix with a cock ring proved to be the solution. Sorting it all out — what with multiple doctor appointments, getting the right testosterone dosage, then experimenting to get the right trimix dosage, then finding the right ring — took more than a year.

By all means, get that T numbers up. With luck, it will be all you need. If it's not, there are alternatives.

Flannigan,
TRT is not a cure all for ED ... by all means get your t-scores back up ... then address your other issues.

Now you say Viagra works but has side effects ... if it works that indicated a blood flow issue and/or meds that you are taking.
Have you tried Cialis or one of the other "PDE5 inhibitors" to see if the side effects still occur.

What meds are you taking? High Blood Pressure, and cholesterol meds (statins) are libido killers ...

I too am on injectable T therapy. A recent lab showed my numbers to be 100 above the top end of the scale! I found out early on it did absolutely nothing for my ED and I continued with it only for the vitality/energy benefits in my 60's. My dosage has now been halved to lessen the risk of stroke obviously. Also, after I get implanted I plan to stop the T injections altogether and revert to being a calm old man, which I feel is my right after all these years!

Thanks all for the responses. I realize that there are probably more than one reasons for my ED issue. Trying to figure out the root cause is proving to be quite an undertaking. I probably should have started looking a long time ago when the problem first appeared in my mid 40's. Now I have a woman that I love and I want to keep her happy and I want to try and get to the bottom of this problem if possible. The Viagra was an easy fix for the past 6 or 7 years but I can't deal with the heavy body aches and pains anymore. I have tried Cialis and Levitra and found the side affects to be even worse. The back ache alone is almost debilitating.

I am not sure if getting my T level up will solve the problem but I have to start there and see what happens. I am getting good nighttime erections so I am hoping that it is not a bloodflow/heart related issue. We will see. I am also only 53 and I am in good shape. Don't smoke and my lipids are all withing normal range. I am also not on any other medication. I do believe there is a mental component to my issue though and I am going to see a shrink this week. I don't have any sexual skeletons in my closet but I think I have grown dependent on the Viagra and I need to get over that dependency issue.

Thanks again for all the responses and I will keep you posted on my progress or lack of. I am still hopeful I can lick this life sucking damn problem so I can get back to enjoying my life and my girlfriend. If not...I am fearing the worst and I will have to let her go. She deserves to be with a man that can satisfy her.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Cheers

My T was quite low, and I raised it significantly with Androgel. Unfortunately, I experienced none of the benefits that so many report - improved energy, feeling of well being, increased sexual feelings, etc. Since it's not a risk free therapy I discontinued it.

Thanks for the reply Dave. How long were you on the Androgel ? It's costing me $500 a month so if I don't see some major improvement in short order I will probably stop taking it too. I would rather spend $500 on a nice escort to just put her pussy in my face for an hour

I forgot to mention - it was also quite expensive. I was on it for about 8 months and was disappointed with the results.

You might want to consider self-injected testosterone, if you can handle the thought of jamming a 22-guage x 1.5" needle in your thigh twice a month. (The needle is so large because the medication is thick and syrupy.)

My GP provides the script for the stuff, which comes in 10 ml vials at round $60. I get 13 or 14 injections per vial, so it works out to less than $4.75 a pop.

Full disclosure: Took me two years to get to the point where I could stab that baby in to the hilt, rather than easing it in a half-inch at a time. Stabbing is by far the least painful . . . but the mind is a funny thing.

Fringe benefit: After dealing with that 22-gauge irrigation pipe, my 30-guage x 1/2" trimix needle is a mosquito.

Once a writer...thanks for the input. I will definitely inquire about it next time I see my uro. The way I see it...I would rather feel the pain of sticking myself with the needle then the pain of my empty wallet every month. I think I can get my GF to stick me in the bum. I am sure that is much more tolerable plus I don't have to see it.

How do you feel after the injections ? Also, do they do anything to help you with the blasted ED ?
