Share With My Family

Postby Larry10625 » Wed Jun 06, 2018 7:20 am

Good morning everyone;
I just wanted to share some great news I got last evening, with my second family. I got a phone call from a clerk, at the Canadian Governor Generals office. She was calling to advise me that I had been awarded the Sovereign Medal for Volunteers. This truly is an honour. I was nominated from another Canadian Armed Forces Officer that I instructed in his Basic Officers Course 7 years ago. It is being awarded because of my 39 years of volunteer work with the Navy League Cadets, Royal Canadian Sea Cadets and the Royal Canadian Army Cadets. I have attached a picture of the medal below... I am not sure when the presentation ceremony is because they get the local mayor to present them or else you could be waiting two or three years for the GG to present it herself.
