A really helpful conversation today about shots:

I saw my new allergist today and we got to talking about needles and shots. For some reason I told him I’d been diagnosed with Peyronie’s Disease and there was a new medication that may be available later this year but it involves a series of injections to penis directly into the placque buildup. And that sounded painful.

He says, Oh, it isn’t painful. I have ED and have been giving myself shots for years. I could have hugged him at that point. He’s in I dunno early 60s to early 70s and said he’s had ED for a very long time. I asked the name of his urologist but he doesn’t have one. just Rx’ed it for himself and gives himself shots. And he’d tried seeing a sex therapists, etc. and he finally realized it wasn’t really a psychological problem. Said he uses prostaglandin (sp?) and it’s never lost effectiveness.

So that clarifies a lot for me and I do have to find another ED friendly urologist asap.

I forget if I asked on this thread if someone knows a good urologist in or near San Francisco?

Gay Man here as well. Diagnosed 10/2009 and DaVinci, 12/2009. Had implant 09/2012. Very Happy with it. Had tried shots and pills, to no avail. Go back to Doc today, due to incontinence issues.

Does the needle injection site increase the chance of STDs if someone is doing oral sex on you?

I think you're suggesting that breaking the skin with that needle provides an opportunistic route for those nasty little microbes to enter the body and do their work. I suppose that could be a risk; I don't THINK it would be more risky than the little buggers entering your systems via the urethra. Your best bet is safe sex: know your partner or wear a condom. Or both.

Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional and it's been 49 years since I took HS biology.

Greg, I was thinking contact with blood as a route for HIV but then I don't have HIV so it's a non-issue. Through the urethra it would be the other STDs going from the other guy to me or vice versa but they are not the big worry HIV is. I my honest impression over the years is that hardly anyone uses condoms for oral sex as the risk is very low (but not zero) and it really kills any of the pleasure, i.e., sucking on latex. I do think having anal sex without condoms is nuts.

At this point any kind of fulfilling relationship would be deeply appreciated. ;) But I have less and less put myself out there to meet guys because of the ED.

I understand. We all do. A limp dick is more than a malfunctioning body part: it's a full blown mind fuck.

The first urologist I saw a few weeks ago wrote me back to say that penile injections can cause Peyronie’s Disease (which I have) and are counter indicated re: using caverject injection.

Does this ring true? Anyone have any knowledge on this subject?

Thanks, Raven
