New guy here - beginning to see some problems.

Good morning everyone,
I feel I can openly discuss some problems here without feeling strange or weird. I'm 46 and I think I'm somewhat adequate still, but I've been noticing that it's getting tougher getting myself "standing at full attention" sometimes, and I get so frustrated at how difficult it gets to "finish off" lately. I think some of the medications I'm prescribed are making ejaculation difficult, and it's also a very weak release. I used to shoot up to 2 feet very quickly, but now I have to rub myself raw and I barely unload anything. I think I'm afraid to mention things like this to my doctor, and too proud as well. I could probably use some encouragement to speak up. I still feel strange typing this right now, but anyway, I saw other guy's problems and felt the courage to speak a little.
Thanks, David.

You really need to talk with your doctor - there is no reason to feel ashamed about this: after all, it's a medical issue, and doctors have heard it all before. Your doctor may not have the expertise required to help you, though - you may need to find a specialist in men's sexual health to get the answers you need. Your doc might be able to refer you to someone, or you may need to find somebody on your own. In any case, welcome to FT - you can learn a lot by browsing and searching the forums, but in the end you will have to seek medical help. Good luck!

Dave is right doctors have seen and heard it all before. The sooner you chat to them the sooner they will point you in the right direction and you can start getting some answers.

Good luck
Dave

Hi For a quick look just google your meds with erectile dysfunction after each one, your find drugs.com comes up a lot read down them as your see side effects, sometimes 3 sections, that should give you an idea of what your meds are doing.

As for ejaculating try doing kegels, if you pop over to www.pegym.com just under the header banner your see kegels, there pretty simple to and the only equipment you need is you, and you can do them anywhere you like, now the reverse ones take a bit of thinking about, you do need to be relaxed and sitting comfortable. its a bit like meditation and off you go, yes one last thing do have an empty bladder, just in case.

One last thing had your prostate checked lately, ask your doctor a DRE best way to get it checked out as blood test do let a few slip through, the old digit is far better, DRE, digital rectal examination or better known as, finger up the bum.

Hope this helps you.

Welcome to FrankTalk. It's all been said before. Talk to your doctor. Get a referral to a Urologist. Hell, the nurses and office assistants at Urologists offices aren't even embarrassed to talk about things like implants and so on. It's their job and they've heard it all.

What medications do you take?

Currently taking Losartan HCTZ, Lipitor, Dicyclomine, Famotidine, and Bupropion. I also enjoy a few alcoholic drinks a day, which is probably not good with some of my meds; I try to keep the drinks to a minimum though.

I take Losartan and Amlodipine plus also Bupropion. The Bupropion has never caused me any ED problems. It isn't supposed to either, but all the other antidepressants except Abilify give me a limp dick.

I'm sure the alcohol doesn't help. My urologist told me that having HBP affects erections as does the medication for it.

Hey David
i'm no expert at all I just know I was really embarrassed to talk to the doc and tried every snake oil and pill out there spent a lot of money should say wasted a lot of money and finally had enough disappointment that I had to talk with someone so I did and really helped for a long time and when my ED got to a point that he couldn't help anymore he referred me to a urologist I guess my point is don't be afraid to talk to your doc I wish looking back I would have sooner would have saved me a ton of stress for me and everyone around me ;)

Good luck
jim

Hey Jim,
I finally mentioned my problems to my primary recently, then he asked how long has this been going on. When I explained it's been progressively getting worse over the last several months, he then said it's something I should have spoken up about immediately. Then came the part I was dreading - of course he said drop your pants and lay on the table, then did the full examination and had blood drawn. He hasn't decided my next step and explained that blood pressure/ cholesterol control are still his primary concerns with me. He did discover a minor urinary tract infection that could be causing some of my issues. I do appreciate the way he listened and assured me my problems were nothing to be embarrassed about with him. Jim, thank you for the message and good luck to you.
