New to the Forum and getting an implant this week

Postby flyguy50 » Mon Jun 13, 2011 6:15 pm

Hi All
I am a prostate cancer survivor whose nerves weren't as spared as I would have hoped. My surgery was 12/3/09 and I am cancer free, thank God. I tried the pills, the pump and bi-mix and tri-mix. Unfortunately I also had Peyronies disease and that and the prostatectomy doomed me to permanent ED. I have decided on the inflatable prosthesis and am scheduled for surgery on Wed of this week. Needless to say I am nervous, but hopeful. My doctor's word to me were, "You are going to hate me for 4-5 days." I did speak to one of his patients who had a great result but who also told me it was the most painful surgery he had ever had. I have steeled myself to this figuring it is like getting kicked in the crotch over and over for a week-- bring on the drugs!. I am 62 years old and have a loving wife who says she doesn't care if I never get back the ability but I care deeply for the two of our sakes. I would love to hear from others about their post-op experiences. The photos and day by day journal were helpful. I had kept a journal after my prostate cancer diagnosis up through my recuperation from surgery which I have shared with a number of friends who have since been diagnosed. Knowledge is power and I could use some of both.
Thanks
Rich

Rich,
This place is filled with guys who have implants. The bionic dick club is pretty strong. From everything they say, you will love it. Most of them though, do not say it was the most painful thing they've been through. They will be along soon to add their two cents. meanwhile, pop into the chat room and make some friends.
glad you're here.

Rich,

All the best on your implant surgery. I don't know if you are going to exactly hate your doctor for 4--5 days, but the first few days are the worst part of the recovery. After these first days, each week of the first eight weeks of recovery were remarkable better than the previous. Be patient. Follow doctor's orders. Don't be 'a man' and try to go it on your own. And don't be too macho to use the pain meds--especially those first few days, stay ahead of the pain.

If you have any questions of us, there are several of us here who have been through the surgery and recovery.

All the best,

ScotK

Boys
Thanks for the encouragement. Had surgery yesterday at Yale and had NO PAIN!! I am a little sore when I get up and move around. Got the catheter and drain out today (ouch) but using the ice. I am stopping the percocet as I think advil will do the trick. Glad I was prepared for the worst. Frankly the prostectomy wa so much worse than this. All I have is some ache-ness. Can't wait to get this baby fired up down the road. This site was a godsend. It de-mystified the procedure for me.

Rich:

Welcome to the Brotherhood of Bionic Boners! I had mine on St. Paddy's Day this year, they gave me green beer for pain! (Just kidding)

Stay on the ibuprofen, it is a wonderful anti-inflamatory. I had the worst swelling my doc had ever dealt with. Because I couldn't really do much with my sack that swollen, I also have some sticking problems that I am still dealing with, a little bit at a time. Try to keep that pump out in the open and away from anything that might adhere to it. I confused incision pain with the tearing of the pump against whatever it was sticking to.

I have a lot of info in my "LGX log" in the implant forums. If you want to know anything, PM me!

Good luck, and here's to hard times!!

Day 4 and doing ok. Had pain last night for the first time but I tried an athletic supporter that was tight and I think I just irritated everything. Better this am. Took off my dressing-- not a pretty sight but doing fine today. I would like to hear from some guys about what the first experiences using the bionic weiner for the first few times

Day 8 Post op
NO change. Still have this mini hard on and not due to see doc until another 10 days. It is like having perpetual blue balls. Not painful just inconvenient and uncomfortable. Still swollen in the scrotum so I can't tell where the pump is.
