Hello Everyone,

I'm Edward, 71 years old, Happily married for 44 years and I have ED. Fortunitely I have a very understanding wife who helps me achieve regular orgasms. I have a pump but its not always successful. I'm hoping to hear how others in my situation cope. Thanks for admitting me to this "club".

Hi Edward,

Welcome to this forum. I think you'll find many many supportive friends here, people of all ages who have suffered or are still suffering from ED. You'll be overwhelmed by the number of experiences to read and learn from. As you can tell by topic names, we have gone from pills to implants, using VEDs and injections along the way. There's a lot of good information here; take the time to learn whatever will help you, and don't be afraid to request more information. f we have it, we share it.

Good luck, and it's important that you have such a supportive wife.

Hey Edward?

Welcome to FT.

Most guys with ED start with supplements such as Ginko Biloba, l-Arginine, green tea, among many others. The next step is usually the PDE5 meds (Viagra, Cialis, etc) and on to the VED if the former are not effective.

You mentioned that the "pump" is not always successful. Can you be more specific such as type of pump ("sex shop" or VED) and weather or not you are using a constriction band?

The pump is a Pos-t-vac and I do use the "ring" or constriction band. So fat it works, just not as things did years ago. Maybe I shouldn't complain tho. I am enjoying all the posts here on FT. Thanks for sharing everyone,

Edward

Edward,

For the first several years that I used a pump following prostatectomy, I either used the wrong type of pump or used the right one incorrectly. As a result, I would get erections that would only last for about 5 minutes. I finally figured out, just by experimenting, that the pumps I was using (sex shop pumps, Bonro Vacurect system, and Osbon Esteem) all had openings at the end that were too small to reach peak erection. Most of the blood being drawn in by a pump is from veins that are near the surface, so these pumps like the sex shop type and the Vacurect restrict incoming blood flow from the beginning.

So finally, I removed the gray insert sleeve from the end of my Osbon Esteem, which makes the opening at the end of the tube 2" in diameter. I use plenty of thick lube on the end of that tube to act as a gasket. Almost immediately I started getting much more substantial erections. Then, I learned I could hold this increased size for at least 15 minute by using two Osbon constrictions rings, which I also determined through trial and error.

So now, I do lots of foreplay to get my partner to a very open and well lubed state, and then I pump up with the method described above, which gives me about 15 minutes of very firm activity. It's kind of a horse race, but in that last 15 minutes, following sufficient foreplay, we can both end up at the finish line. We use the pump when we don't feel like going through the injection routine.

I am thinking that the constriction bands that come with the Pos-t-vac do not provide sufficient tension. I found that the tension bands that came with my VED were not tight enough. Accordingly, I recommend you try an Osbon tension band. My Osbon generates an erection as hard or harder than the erections I got when I was 20. In fact, i can improve a semi into a fully hard erection simply by slipping on the Osbon and kegeling in some more blood without using a pump.
